Melia's Trike-A-Thon

Last week Melia's preschool held their annual Trike-A-Thon event. This event is one of their biggest fundraisers each year. The kids all decorate their bikes and trikes, bring them to school, and then see how many laps they can finish. Donations are made based on either a per-lap-basis or a flat donation.

The event itself was a big success! Tons of kids participated and parents showed up to show support and race their kids on.

Melia rocked the house! W E L L...her bike did. My poor girl couldn't even finish 10 feet without bursting into tears. Her bike was the bell of the ball, er, trike-a-thon. But the crowd and commotion was more than she could handle.

We left before the awards ceremony so not sure if she won for best bike, but in my book she did!

Hi again. It's me, Momma. Haven't seen you in awhile. It's me, tired, tired momma. Tired, tired, pregnant momma. Yah yah, guess it is time to make the official announcement that we are expecting a little one in November! And OH THE GUILT I am already getting for not putting as much energy into this baby as we did Melia. Ok, come on now, it is much more exhausting the second time around so cut me a little slack! My daughter teethed on the camera on my phone so there probably won't be as much attempt to upload pictures. And speaking of pictures, what you WON'T be getting are the weekly snapshots of how big my belly is getting. WHY you ask? Well, I didn't enjoy it the first time around but put up with it because my darling husband said "oh it will be so cool to do a montage of your belly getting bigger." Still waiting. Melia will almost be three. No montage. So as you can tell, week 9 has brought out exhaustion, sarcasm, and an attempt to at least give this new child a little bit' of stardom before it makes its presence into this world. No, maybe this one won't be as famous as Melia was in utero, but I will give it my best shot. Here's looking at you, lima bean!

Melia's Korean Lesson - Take 1

Ok, ok, we know we've been slacking big time on the blog thing. But let's face it - Krista was the one doing most of the posts and frankly she now uses Facebook to send out updates of the little one. However I wanted to a post a new video of Melia to share with Charles and didn't want it on Facebook, so here's our first update in 8 months ;)

This video is the result of Melia and me playing a game where we whisper jibberish in each other's ears, which for some reason she just thinks is really hysterical. So after doing this for a couple weeks I decided to start using some of the Korean words I remember to see if she thought that was also jibberish or if she would figure out if they were real words - just not english. Well it seems she started catching on because she would repeat some of the words afterward, so I decided to teach her how to repeat them. I'm amazed she did so well - this is a video of our first practice. I'll leave it to Uncle Charles to judge, but I'd say it was a pretty dang good pronunciation.
