On to 6 weeks

Oh joy oh rapture. 6 weeks and counting. 148 pounds. No morning sickness, no food aversions. But my boobs really hurt, I am quite tired, and I had a pretty serious bloody nose yesterday. Ryan immediately went to the baby book and found this was common. Phew. Not to worry. He also found that my stuffy nose was common. But overall, I feel good. Christy and I even walked a half maration last weekend in 3:34:56.

I think my emotions are starting to get the best of me. Poor Ryan. The hardest thing about all of this is not having my mom. Since she died, I never really felt scared not having her around. But I am scared now. I know I will be a great mom, but I don't know if I will be a great pregnant person. It is very lonely without her. I do have women in my life who mean the world to me, but nobody can replace your mom. She is the one who carried me. I want to know if I am experiencing the same things she did. I am so paranoid right now.

Thank goodness for Ryan. And my orange teddy bear cat. They are both willing to cuddle when I am sad. And who wouldn't want to cuddle with these?

5 weeks and counting!

Although we don't see the doctor for 2 more weeks, we are pretty sure we are about 5 weeks along. That means our baby is the size of a sesame seed! That also means that we are due right around Ryan's B'day, my dad's b'day, Amy's b'day, and father's day. Whew!

DUE DATE: June 23, 2007 (although this could change once we see the doctor)

This week our baby's heart divides into chambers and actually begins to beat and pump blood! Wow! Amazing that something so small can do this already.

I've been feeling really well. (Knock on wood) I haven't had any morning sickness, wierd cravings, or aversions to food. I am sure this will all change. My boobs KILL and the only thing that is comfortable is a sports bra. I'm gonna have to go get some cute ones. A few times throughout the day I feel a gentle burning/cramping kind of sensation around my belly button. Nothing I can't handle!

Anyhow, we are still in shock and realizing that 8 months isn't very far away. Normally, when you think of 8 months away, its seems like a lifetime. But not in this case!

Well, its official...

WE ARE PREGNANT! Just found out yesterday (10/18/06). We are very lucky that it didn't take too long. Although Ryan was looking forward to a lot more practicing! (chuckle)

We decided not to tell anyone until 3 months are up, with the exception of 2 people: Janie, Ryan's mom, and Amy, my sister. We told Janie because her mom just died 1 1/2 weeks ago. It wasn't easy losing her mom (it never is) and we thought the news about this new little life would really cheer her up, which it did! And then we told Amy because not only is she my sis but she is a nurse. I wanted to be able to talk to someone who would immediately pick up the phone and give me "there there's", but also give me medical support. They aren't happy about being sworn to secrecy, but they don't have a choice! But at least everyone is reading this blog for the first time.

See Janie, it was easy not telling!
